The Condemned

ThrashMetal is a forum supporting visual art, sound recordings and literary works steeped in the hardcore abandon of Thrash.  Showcasing artists from the underground, ThrashMetal’s sole focus is the blistering charge of Metal’s most punishing delivery.  Leave trepidation, muted output and false rock at the door; we’re here to shatter bones.

ThrashMetal is based in Toronto, Canada.

ARBORUS is the pseudonym of decorated Toronto artist, author, musician and headbanger who retreated from public view as a film and television director in 2017.  He resurfaces now with the first component of his series TO THE HILT.

Working beyond traditional margins, ARBORUS’s output is defined by its critical evaluation, veracity, and intensity.  The book TO THE HILT explores the canon of Thrash Metal’s most enduring motifs, while reflecting his own distaste for humanity’s self-interest and greed.  As with Thrash Metal, itself, these poems parallel both condemnation and execution of manifold taboos alternately from the points of view of either victim or perpetrator.

Music critic and Metal historian Burt Ogilvy plumbs the depths of noise with his reviews of new and old releases from around the world.  Highly informed on the background of Metal’s many subgenres, as well as the particulars of innumerable albums from the Golden Age through to the artforms’s contemporary brutality, Burt Ogilvy’s insightful and comprehensive summaries examine singles, EPs, full lengths, and splits from the outskirts of Metal, to its better-known bands.

While Burt Ogilvy composes pre-release reviews for upcoming albums, his writings also cover music from his personal collection, allowing him to focus on positive critiques of independent and major label releases, rather than delving purely into scathing analyses of dreck.

Labels, distros and bands are encouraged to contact Burt to discuss pricing schedules.
